“It’s going to be a magical day nonetheless because you’re in a very magical place.”

The Bride
Falling in love with the scenic backdrops found at Sun Peaks Resort, newlyweds Jacqueline and Adam Ali became the first couple to hold their reception in the Sunburst Lodge over the Canada Day long weekend.

“Everyone enjoyed it and they loved the experience of taking a chairlift up to the top of a mountain and checking out this gorgeous venue,” said Jacqueline. “It was a very unique wedding experience.”

Adam and Jacqueline said “I do” exactly one year to the day of touring the resort with Sun Peaks’ Centre’s wedding planner Kaitlyn Lamotte.  They chose the gardens at the covered bridge as their location for their vows.

“It just felt really right while we were there,” she said.  “It was very intimate and surrounded by beautiful nature but at the same time could we knew it could host the large families that we have.”

With 126 guests in attendance, Jacqueline said she felt the love and support from her family and friends as she walked down the aisle. She was overcome with emotion as she walked towards her future husband.

“It was finally that moment of me walking down the aisle, seeing Adam’s face it just hit me all at once,” she said. “Additionally seeing all the love and happiness and tears of joy from everyone else that was sitting there got to me too… and definitely got me crying.”

The Ali’s wedding day was a wild mix of scattered showers, rays of sunshine and an epic thunderstorm while heading up to the reception. But for the couple, it just added to the magic of their special day.

“The crazy moment that people are still talking about today (is) during the ceremony right after we walked down the aisle and the minister started talking the sun came out,” she said. “As we were saying our vows and putting on the rings it was completely sunny and lovely and stayed for the entire ceremony and as soon as the ceremony was over it got rainy again. That was magic that was really cool.”

The couple let the scenery act as the main decore, playing into their rustic, elegant woodland theme. They selected a ceremony space showcasing  views of Mt. Morrisey and Mt. Tod and surrounded by trees. It was the perfect incorporation of nature for the outdoorsy couple.

The reception space at Sunburst Lodge provided intimacy while also offering adventure for their guests by taking them up and away from the village for a private celebration.

“It was interesting because you feel like you have this very intimate, almost in the middle of the woods experience, but you’re really just an eight minute chairlift ride away from the village,” she said.

Reflecting on her wedding, Jacqueline said her advice for future Sun Peaks brides is to expect every kind of weather but not to worry about everything being perfect.

“It’s going to be a magical day nonetheless because you’re in a very magical place.”
